Phone scams are increasing every year. Scammers know that many older adults still answer calls from unknown numbers. The good news is that once you recognize the warning signs, these scams become much easier to avoid.
Scam #1 – The Grandchild Emergency Scam
Someone pretends to be your grandchild and urgently asks for money.
Tip: Always call your family member directly before sending anything.
Scam #2 – Fake Medicare Calls
Someone claims they need to “verify” your Medicare number.
Tip: Never give your Medicare number to an unsolicited caller.
Scam #3 – Bank Fraud Calls
The caller says your account has suspicious activity.
